How Does This Look So Far

My basement is being finished and they started the drywall today. How does this look so far? I'm not really familiar with how rough it can look before tape and mud and still come out clean.

Thanks

Rob

u hired urself some mexicans huh? thats what all the work i finish behind looks like (well maybe not quite that bad of gaps) none the less its disgusting. Although they do hang for 10cents a foot, and hang 15,000 feet in less than a day, and i get the amazing job of making it look right, god i love my life

I can see that the sheetrock corner is busted on the first pick, and sheetrock should touch each other, not enough screws, other then that looks good from my house!

If it was my job, they would not come back and the next crew would have to demo what this crew already did.

It also looks like they are hanging the ceiling boards directly on the bottom of the joists, I would use Hat Channel on the ceiling.

I also don't know why they pulled the ceiling boards from the wall, we will leave a little bit of a gap, but I want my wall boards to fit tight against the ceiling boards, not slid behind them.

The framing looks a bit sloppy, but it is hard to tell, if that is the top plate, it should be doubled.

I'm a 25 year man and I had to google hat channel. Me don't have a clue why or what it is. I will look further into it.

This is hat channel. It is for commercial projects mostly though. I don't know why bwalley is using it in this instance. It is usually used to fur out walls/ceilings or for cross-bracing.

Re: How Does This Look So Far

As for the original post, all I can say is, WOW!

The framing really sucks or the hanging is horrible, and the hanging STILL is horrible even if the framing is out of square.

I use it on the bottom of trusses or joists, it is common practice in my area, we run it on the bottom of the trusses perpendicular to them.

It helps us get the boards more level and it also doesn't seem to show the joints as bad.

It would definitely work for that. I just haven't seen it used for that before.
