$$$ Hourly Wages In Alberta

Was thinking of going hourly as the residential here is drying up. Anyone know what the going hourly rate is for a fully qualifed taper in Alberta?

I just want to know how busy is Alberta. And what are the rates like there for subcontracting. Also how hard is it to get in with a contractor. Also do they still have sanding crews that do the check out. Winnipeg is coming to a slow stop, getting hard to compete with the fly by nighters.

for $45 you might as well leave the tools on the table, you won't need em.

Are you asking about the rate a contractor will charge hourly or the rate a good taper might expect to make from his employer?

Andy.

Until oil picks up again Alberta will be very slow.

There are a lot of good trades people working part time in Calgary.
We are all waiting for oil prices to recover.

Having said that (written) commercial construction seems to be fairly busy right now.

you can count on at least $14 hour if you have all your own tools, but its tought to find work. Alberta will make you feel sick and you will want to leave sooner or later, so include a return flight.

Re: $$$ Hourly Wages In Alberta

$14! man if this is what your being paid to tape with your own tools in alberta you are either the worlds worse taper or you being robbed. depending on your skill level I would say $20 is a minimum for say a second or third year taper and for journeyman or master your looking at $25 to $35. Work is picking back up here. I put my company on hold for 6 months while I did service in the slow down but am firing things back up this week because most companys have been selling quite a few starter homes now that housing prices have dropped.

Jeez, there's nothing but work in Calgary. We were looking for a taper to do 4 or 5 basements and garages and couldn't find anyone.

Then you are either looking in the wrong places or not looking at all.
