High Work?
Working on a bid for office space. The walls are 14' to deck. Walls are to be finished from floor to deck three coats and sand paint ready. Its like 61- 10s and 30-8s stand ups. There is a few bead, tearaway and off angles.
I was thinking sf and add $200. Or sf plus a extra .10 per sf above 10'. What do you guys do? Thanks Al |

Re: High Work?
Al,
90% of my jobs are spent on scaffolding,lifts,etc..What I have always done is just add MY set amount for every foot over 10'. That usually covers the labor to set up/tear down & the added time to lift the sheets up. Especially in shell work before fit outs we have to go to decking for fire-rating purposes. Personally, my standard per board price for standard work(which I consider 8'-10') is $58.00. Highest decking we usually deal with is 25' & that per board price is $66.00. Keep in mind, this is my market, and what I feel is profit making for me. Another very important thought to keep in mind is amount of sheets. Most of my jobs can be anywhere from 500-50,000 sheets on any given site. Personally I charge more for less sheets because I still have the same profit margin I want to maintain, so for 91 sheets with the majority being 10' I could go anywhere from $70.00-$80.00 per board for high work. You have to charge what you feel you need to charge to make a profit because there isn't a national set price for sheetrocking high framing. If I was to give any advice, I'd say minimum 1.5x your normal rate. JMO. GOOD LUCK!!
