Help! ??Drywall Over Brick?
Hi guys,
I went to take measurements today for a large kitchen remodel. This house was built WWII era with solid brick and morter walls. (Like a bomb shelter!)I'm in the process of putting together my bid but I'm kind of stumped on BEST PRACTICE for this scenario. He's had other parts of the house done by another contractor but he's having mold issues. I think the guy glued drywall straight to the brick! 2 scenarios went through my mind. 1. Sub it out to a Plaster guy? Not sure it will flow with the rest of the house. There's no texture, smooth finish. 2. Fir it with 1x4's 16"O.C. and use a greenboard to help with mold? Should I apply a moisture barrier between the brick and drywall? Wouldn't the moisture travel up and escape in the ceiling? Kind of stumped! Thanks for some help from you pros. |

Re: Help! ??Drywall Over Brick?
firing is the only way and using a mold resistant drywall and or densarrmor is excellent. however you may want to think about why he is getting muold and fix that problem first. if you don't you will be just like the other guy....
