greenboard is fine, as long as he is not hosing the room down, good coat of primer and paint, keep sheetrock 1/4'' off the slab, if no window, i would add exhaust fan or vent to room. WHAT KIND OF PLANTS

I would go with dens-armor. These rooms are humid with consent water on the floor. Green won't stop the mold or mildew. XP would probably work O.K. but that's treated paper as opposed to a mold proof face in the dens-armor. Just use ez sand to tape coat.

x2 on Densarmor. The only way to really suppress mold is to get rid of it's "food"... a paperless board like Densarmor would be the way to go. Have you also considered the stud work behind? This would be a good application to consider steel stud if it's not already framed.

Re: Green Board Vs Mold Moist Resist Board

green board would be ok if you want no mold growing just spray with mocro band behind walls and on drywall for moisture you need ventilation mold only grows when there is no air movement and theres moisture in the room.

Not true mold needs air to grow. You take a chance with green. Green does feed mold dens armor does not. Why even guess about the conditions when you have a sure thing? Also what about mildew?

mold only grows in humid areas with no air circulating. I know i dry building for living i went to school for that and mildew is a form of mold. Get some mildacide also known as microband and circulate air. you should have no problem and if you still not satisfied spray fosters but is about $500 for a fiver.

Re: Green Board Vs Mold Moist Resist Board

ok guys thanks for your help!! also what about insulation i know some people put plastic on their basement wall don't know what kind of plastic/moisture barrier is that ?? i dont think thats a good idea cause it will trap moisture i never used moisture barrier is that bad??. Toni the basement is already framed with regular 2x4, so i think i'm just going to spray it with some mold control spray.. Also where can i find that microband?? never heard of that ?? again thanks for your help guys..

jondon sells it its a flood restoration store. Also a moisture barrier is a bad idea is its just plastic nothing special. i cant count how many basemants i had to tear out because they had a mousture barrier you cant dry the insulatio which can holds one gallon of water per square foot. moisture barriers are so when the grade out side (since your in abasemant ) is cooler than the inside the moisture dont bleed thrugh so they figure it will just condense on the plastic but if you have insulation then it gets wet little by little and then you can have a colony of fungy on the insulation paper. just type jondon dot youknow what the site wont let me post the adress since i dont have 15 post yet. good luck
