Finishing Plywood

I have a customer who has 1/2" ac ply on walls in garage and wants me to finish it like drywall. Never done this before and not sure if it is recommended sense ply isn't as dimensionally stable as drywall 'duh' although I have heard of people doing this with success. What would you do?

No biggy, painting the plywood with primer will help a BUNCH,(not required, but if there is any oil or such stains, mud won't stick less its primed) then just skim it out.

Re: Finishing Plywood

I would trim the seams, wood putty the nails. I've had call backs when I mix wood and mud.

I you end up doing it I agree with Capt...........clean and prime first.

Re: Finishing Plywood

did this in Dennys restaurants years back though with 5/8 to match the 5/8 rock. They wanted ply for hanging cabinets and other stuff on.

We just taped and finished like rock, skimmed the ply, and everything was fine.
