Question

Finishing Densarmor

Hey guys,
I am installing a load of Densarmor and I am curious on the finish. I see the fibers all over and would like to know if I have to skim the entire board or will a coat of primer and two coats of quality paint fill the voids? I am guessing skim....doh! Thanks, Norm

I was recently at a wedding at Fort Meade, MD and met a guy who does this type of stuff (he's located near you, if I remember correctly).

I'll ask my buddy if he has the guys information.

Re: Finishing Densarmor

I've had good results using 3/8 nap roller,
alkyd primer, and two coats also with 3/8 nap.
½" nap with primer is even better if they want
gloss.
Build texture.

Re: Finishing Densarmor

Are you on the JLC forum as well? I just did a bathroom: 2 coats rolled, 3/8" nap wool roller cover, and used the Gripper primer. It came out very nice. You would never know it was densarmor.

Re: Finishing Densarmor

Just a little update. It was a cinch to skim. In ultra thin coat was all that was needed with no problems. The one thing I did not care for was the weight of the sheets and the fibers made me itch for days. But overall it was good. Thanks for the tidbits.

Re: Finishing Densarmor

If you don't want to skim it, I think that you could spray a coat of a highbuild primer. That should seal it and smooth it.
