Fast set

I need some info on fast set products.
I had a mold issue in my bedroom , so I demoed ,remedied the mold issue and fixed the moisture problem( water seeping through basement foundation). I would use my normal method , but I had to stay in my daughters room while all this took place. I believe the toxic smell of perfume and posters of teenage boys staring at me all night has traumatized me for life. Anyways this got me thinking that maybe I should just use fast set products and get it all done today.

I have used a tiny bit of fast set products , but I find they are very hard to sand ridges and shape high spots. What do you guys, that use this stuff all the time, recomend. Is there a way to manipulate this stuff during the setting to get rid of high spots and ridges . What sanding grit, and do you use it wet. If I tape and bed with fast set and top it with normal finish mud, would that be easier.

I think the posters are following me . Any help woul be greatly appreciated.

We use durabond 90 to bedcoat and second coat then skim it with topping compound, we just shave any ridges and high spots before we coat with topping, going this way you should be done in 24 hours. unless humidity is up above 60%

Used a little for the first time a while back. Seems I had to work fairly fast with it before it started setting. first run or two tokk a long time to dry. Evidently I used too much water. Second coat was about right, I guess, but had to work fast. When I use it again, I definetly do not plan on doing much sanding on it ( if any). For me, it did not sand as easy as topping, even though it is called Easy Sand. Also learned to get it off my tools pretty quick. Actually a little aggravating to me. Its like I had to clean tools everytime between mixing the setting mud.

Thanks guys. I just used 30 min for taping and bedding. I am probably just going to do a couple of topping coats with finish mud . It seems I have time now that my wife re arranged the room so we can sleep in there again. Thank God I am out of the kids room.

I mix a little bit of the easysand with regular mud. It sets up pretty much as fast but goes on smoother and sands easier. I still do the final coat with regular mud, but at least you can get all the coats on in a day. I like the 20 min.
