Drywall Rates In Alberta Canada

Does anyone know how much a I should charge a builder for a simple job, high cielings and curved walls? I need a rough estamate on how much drywall prices are over there. I'm looking to relocate company from Milwaukee Wisconsin. If anyone knows would be a great help. Herd the work is good!

I can't help you with specifics but I can tell you that Alberta has been in a housing boom for awhile now and the rumours abound about how desperate they are for skilled workers.

I have heard the same thing, lots of work and lots of money to be made. Hear in Toronto I can get as much as .47 /sq' mtls inc: so I imagine you should be able to get as much or if not more, good luck over there

Be careful.. The residential housing market just went flat here in august. I would not move unless I had a contract first. Good luck finding a place to live.

The contractors have been telling us that it is going to be slow this spring. Make sure you have a place to live for you and your workers before you make your move.

Like Mudd Dog and Davey said. Make real sure you have a place to live and a contract. The cost of living here is absolutely stupid. As for what to charge it depends on too many things, like how much you need for profit overhead , material and labor etc.

I've been calling around to some builders and some say theres alot of work and others say there realy slow. Why is it that hard to find a place to live are there no apartments or houses to rent, or how much would it run me to have a place to live in alberta. I guess it is a good idea to get a contract as u guys say. Thx for the info & advice.

if you want to rent a house, there are none for rent or you may find one for 1200 -1800 per month for a shack. Apartments have very low occupancy rates right now. Look in the Edmonton Journal newspaper. You can google it. Or the Calgary Herald or The Sun newspaper.
Multi unit housing is still finishing up from the recent boom but new home starts are waaaay down. Go to the city's website and see how many housing permits have been issued. I know of a framing company called gunslinger framing and they said they have almost no residential single family houses on the go.

The economy is good, you are going to need to be legitimate, yet I am sure there are some that will hire scabs.
bwalk.com is the biggest rent property supplier. Don't come unless you have a place and a crew is coming with you. Coming by yourself is a waste of time as you can not hire anyone worth keeping. They all beleive they are worth thirty dollars per hour, B.S. a bit to get it, then get run off the job because they are not worth the eight that they should have started at. There is alot of hiring shy companies now because of the crap that have come looking for work and should have stayed home.

Some will be slowing down, because there is a shortage ready lots.

I guess we should have asked you where in Alberta you were planning on setting up shop. It seems that most of us are based in Edmonton. Is that where you were planning on going to? Or Calgary, Red Deer, Ft. McMurray,Grande Prairie? In the newspaper yesterday, it said that housing construction in Grande Praire is flat, so I wouldn't recommend going there.

Housing is dying fast ,if you have a job keep it but to move here in search of something better, your late. Wages are still very good but it will be hard to break into, its a who you know world when a market starts to decline.
