Re: Drywall Rates In Alberta

then hire ME as i am from Calgary and STUCK in edmonton with these yahoos... im independant and fully loaded NO HABITs. and very clean as well as professional in demeanor.

What r u lookin for ?

hourly i charge 60 no joke. b/c i make 100 / hr private.. i dont underestimate myself. why should I .

Secondly , if your really into good tapers.... then ill come down and work on 1 project ... but seriously with the amount of cons going on in edmonton, id say 2000 up front up on arrival and when you see the quality you can breathe easier.

sleep on it

All I know is that I keep having to follow the crappy ones you are talking about. Whatever happened to measure twice, cut once?

there are boardmen here getting .35 sq/ft for 9ft ceiling using 54in board. If you know the right people

Hey Bh54, have you tried Talcore or Ron's Drywall on the Island? Things in Alberta have slowed down alot. Had a friend come out from Van. looking for work, he ended up going back to Van.

Re: Drywall Rates In Alberta

Calgary and Edmonton are busy.....we hear it all the time...however again the cost of living is outragious....a friend of mine just moved there and is working in a diffrent feild, but he is paying $2200 month for a 2 bedroom house just outside of edmonton. As for the rates, they are not bad, about average. I live in Prince George, about 8 hours away, and i can tell you one thing...if you any good you are working....flyby nighters, get weeded out pertty fast, Our housing starts are down, but reno's are up. The new housing that we are doing, we are getting around 1.55 bf supply install finish to level 4. As to a year ago we were getting 1.70 to 1.85...bigg diffrence. Here if you dont know someone you dont get the job...lucky for me i have been around for a very long time, and work for a lot of the best companies, who demand quality and are willing to pay for it.
Be carefull with the 200 homes.....they are there, but you wont be happy paying a huge huge rental payment that will take most of your proffits.

Good Luck

J

Re: Drywall Rates In Alberta

yup $2200 is damn steep, when i was renting an hour away from Calgary, in Canmore...all i had was one room in a guys house to stick myself + the taper in (one right after another) when i was getting houses there nonstop. $1000/month, for a freakin room!

im seeing an increase in the amount of reno's as well, but down in the columbia valley prices are still hovering around the 1.70-1.80 mark for new construction if you know what you're doing.

Re: Drywall Rates In Alberta

I came to alberta about 2 years ago and for how much cheaper it is to live in ontario. The rates are **** out here.... They build so slow guys who say that they have been boarding out here for 5 to 10 years are dumb too..... Ive been doin this for 10 years and have done everything... i worked for tabraco marel, d&a you name it ...... if they do pay higher than out there it's because they will have over 200 houses in 5 years not 1 years which is only decent...

people arent too bright out here for that.. i've gone through 10 guys in the last 2 months and they are slopy cause i believe that they dont make enough.... I do perfect job like 1/8 gap if crooked and tapers love my work compared to other boarders..... but I probably working for the cheapest company in calgary right now... any one know of anybody need a good boarder. I got 1 guy with me and can get more if needed. Just dont have any luck with anyone willing to try me out on at least one job.... after one job you'll see i do great work and make a tapers life easy.....

Re: Drywall Rates In Alberta

I am just getting my company started and off the ground, i am also wondering what the accepted rates are for Southern alberta, with board, taping and sanding in one outfit. where i started and learned to drywall, they were $1.10 and even as low as $0.90. mind you it was a small town with only two outfits good enough to compete. any help with this would be appreciated.
