Re: Drywall Rates In Alberta
It depends on you if its worth it those are the prices but like I said expectation of quality is high. I have had to go back and fix a total of 2 minor problems in the past 5 years and I have to constantly turn down work due to there not being enough good manpower in this city. If ya need some help getting started send me an email or PM when you get here maybe we can work something out. also the next couple of months are the best time to find a house to rent just in case your wondering you'll pay about 1200+ for a decent house 900+ for an apartment or basement suite.

Re: Drywall Rates In Alberta
I came to Alberta in 2001 and the company i work for started me at $.17/sq. ft. for 8ft. residential. now i get $.26/ft. for 8 and 9 ft. but i charge for arches ,vaults, crappy framing ,adding backing, generally anything thats required other than drywall. I'm not trying to brag but i have seen some of the work going around and it makes me mad. i take my time and my work looks exceptional and all the tapers say i'm the best boarder the company has. I don't like the feeling that i'm being pimped out at a low price i know the contactor is making money off of me the word is that his company has an unadvertised reputation for excellent work. what do you think?

Re: Drywall Rates In Alberta
there is never a gap in my bevels, my cuts are clean straight, and well measured. very rarely will we chip a corner, broken bevels go in the windows so they get cut out, every single screw in the house is sunk. i know how to make a house look so good its a shame to cover it with mud and tape. and it makes me angry that guys butcher and slam board on just thinking about the $$$ I care about the home owner i board every project like it was my own home i often hear wow when the supers see my work the tapers call me to to say what a great job it is im looking for a contactor to pay me what im worth and keep me busy because this guy keeps me working but hes taking to much of the pie. i have 16 yrs, exp

Good to hear trigger. there are a lot of scabs out there not many take great pride in their work. as for can you expect a tremendous pay increase no not really. I'm in a similar boat in that we have a shortage of good tradesman here to. what you can do though is make them cater to you both in jobs and sometimes if I'm being pissy I'll make em give me a cpl extra cents just to make myself feel better. there's also the hey "hows it goin *cough*case of beer*cough*cough*"

No wonder you have a shortage of tapers. I'll keep you real busy at .26 to .36 down here in montana. Commercial is at .35 here and residential goes for .44 to .46

Re: Drywall Rates In Alberta
damn that sounds good to me I'm in calgary so it isn't that far. I've actually heard from a number of tapers about high end prices just across the border, I guess they were right.

Oilers fan Bead rates are at $2.25 and $1.25 now. some are even paying 2.30 and 1.30. I would be questioning your contractor.

Re: Drywall Rates In Alberta
No one I know supplies for their subs. The only thing they do is let you buy on their account and it is taken off your pay. I supply my own material. I have had too many inconsistencies with material costs not too. As for who I dont know. Everyone says they are slow except the bigger guys. I am in the process of cutting out the middle man.

Re: Drywall Rates In Alberta
IDEAL sucks the big one.. and everyone knows it
ps...... they ripped me a new asshoel and i dished it back by supplying them with new patches to be done and wall angles all razorbladed up .. best though ? is when you go back and spray glue on the wall . .that sucks -- BUT ... anyone who steals from you deserves everythin they get. |
