Question

Crowning Wall Studs

Hey Guys - I was in the framing forum a day or two ago and saw a post where a fellow asked if anybody crowned wall studs when framing. Most said "NO", some said "YES"

I responded with how wavy a wall will be if the wall studs are not crowned and mentioned how some of the walls lean in or out.

How is the framing in your area?????

Re: Crowning Wall Studs

I always crown wall studs, don't see why people don't except that it adds to time/material costs.

Been to a few places here in Charlotte, NC where the commercial guys are rocking vertically, I guess 'cause they all have the new Skywalker set up (designed to mud vertical flats!). Point is, I've been in more than a few places that have terribly telegraphed studs--standing at one end and looking down the length of the wall you can see the waves like you're at the beach!

We crown all of our studs, I would not do it any other way!
