Bubbled Paper

Son had a few places to bubble on him when he laid the bedcoat and tape where he either didn't have enough mud or squeezed to much when bedding the tape. My wife and I have been dealing with the eminent death of her mom ( day or two now, if not hours), and I have not been able to be there to help with that part. I did go over to do the corners and maybe correct what i could in a rush. Anyway, i had him to cut the few bubbles out and just put more mud on without replacing the paper. Comments appreciated.

Re: Bubbled Paper

Too dumb a question? Or am I the only one to admit doing it?

Re: Bubbled Paper

If it's just a small spot like on the edge or a small spot in the middle. I just cut it out and fill it in with durabond. Bigger areas I will pull the tape reapply tape with durabond.

Normally, I would replace the tape also, but since I am just iin and out now due to ma-in-laws illness I just cut the spots out (some in the middle ) and remudded. I can always fix if it does not hold up. thanks for the response.

Re: Bubbled Paper

Your bedding compound was not wet enough. This is a real common thing for first timers.....The tape will draw the moisture from the compound so fast that it does not have time to bond. If it is just a couple of spots use wood glue under the tape to bond it to the mud and continue on. Wood glue can be used to bond the tape or paper corners to the board. Not very cost effective, but will give fast results.
P.S. Never blame it on a blood relative when a minun or lacky will do.

LOL! hear that, but thre was no one there but them! Speaking of the drying aspect, sometimes I will run my paper through water for a patch. Usually works like a charm for me. I may wish I had taken the time to o a better jop on that. But, he is learning the way I did. By doing. Differenc is he does have me tryig to explain and show how to sometimes. still, it is easier if I am ther at the time it is being done.
