Bath area rock ???????

Are most going 5/8" ceilings and walls,or 1/2" walls and 5/8" ceiling?
This is Res.bay area. Also do you go greenboard in shower ceiling w/ xtra screws? Some inspectors ,don't allow here. Framed up a large bath addition.
Claw foot tub,no tile on walls, just floor. would You go green Bd. around tub area? Thanks Drift

Um denshield will kinda look like crap if you try to mudd and finish it with paint. Go for the purple board, if I read everything right this is just a tub? Or is it a claw foot with full oval enclosure for shower? If just tub, go with the purple board, USG I think, I dont like the fiber glass mat type of drywall, it finishes funny to me. Maybe you are talking about DensArmor?

National is not sold around here - at least not that I have seen, so thus DensArmour. We all do what we gotta do. If I can find some of the purple board I will have to look into - Thx

If memory serves me the purple board is allowed for ceilings 16"o/c where as you would normally need 5/8". Im a big fan of Denshield and I would use it in place of the durarock in the shower but due to cost I would stick with the XP in the tub area as long as you dont decide to tile later.
