Bad Rock?

Last week I got a call from one of my builders that an entire sheet of rock fell off the garage ceiling in a house we did over the winter.
so, I went over to fix it and found that it had benn screwed on properly but the sheet simply lost all strength the paper backing was loose the surrounding sheet were a little weak too,i could take a nail and push it through it little force.
It was USG sag resistant 1/2" anyone else seen this?

Re: Bad Rock?

Man I always thought garages where 5/8 cause of the fire rating, what was the span of the ceiling joists? 24" oc or 16" if it's 24" I would have used 5/8's

Re: Bad Rock?

Get your supplier out to take a look and he will most likely call for USG to have a tech. rep. to check it out. Make them pay for the fix if it is bad rock which happens all to often lately.
KEEP US POSTED ON THE OUTCOME!
