Re: Anyone Using Auto Feed Guns For Hanging
I use a corded Senco. I love it.
As many others have said it's a little dicey in the corners but I just go back and hit the corners with my dewalt. The screws are a little spendy but I just upped my bid amounts to cover the collated screws. I wish it had a tool-less adjustment feature to change from 1-1/4" to 1-5/8" It is amazing how fast you can screw off a 12 foot sheet on the lid. I screw the perimeter, move the lift, and zip in the rest. Doug |

Re: Anyone Using Auto Feed Guns For Hanging
Just got the Hilti. Love it. It can be used as a collated or regular. Changing from 1 1/4 to 1 5/8 is tool less. 4500 RPM's. Even when using the collated, you can pop off the nose to set screws, back them out, or get into corners with hand screws. It is hard to feather the trigger and not drive them all the way in. I find it gets into corners with the collation on real well. Better than the Senco which I also have. It uses the same screws as the Senco too.
Not great directions regardless of how many languages it is printed in. I had the Hilti guys set mine up for collated. By the way, it is corded. I have the Senco as my cordless for tacking up the sheets and then I screw off with the Hilti. I think I will get spoiled by the Hilti's speed and start using it for everything. I used to use my corded 4000 RPM Makita before I had the Senco, so I am used to the cord. The screw tip on the Makita kept coming out, so I bought the Hilt rather than deal with it and wait for the repair. I used to have a Makita authorized service center down the street, now they are hours away. Last edited by kgphoto; 10-16-2008 at 12:52 AM. |

Re: Anyone Using Auto Feed Guns For Hanging
I've been looking at these products for a while too and have decided on the hilti. I've been waiting to get a deal on ebay but none could be found so will have to get one from a retailer - 199 from homedepot.com and 219 from the Hilti dealer in Calgary.
I was very tempted to get the Quik Drive system for dewalt as I've just invested in their cordless routers, guns, and nano batteries, but the screws are more expensive. It would have been nice to have a cordless autofeed but in the end it's probably not necesary. If anyone is running one i'd like to hear if they think it's worth the extra cost and weight. I'll post my experience with the Hilti once received. D'S |

Re: Anyone Using Auto Feed Guns For Hanging
In my personal opinion, i think the senco cordless is junk, just stick with a good hilti gun,the sd4500 is probably your best bet, ive been using it for over a year now and i love it, ive used the senco cordless auto feed and it doesnt seem to drive the screws deep enough and jams up frequently, not worth the hassle if you ask me

Re: Anyone Using Auto Feed Guns For Hanging
We have used the cordless Sencos for about 3 years now and they are great for tacking and ceilings as well. They are worthless in tight corners though. I just tried our Quick Drive with the drywall screw attachment last week and frankly I can hand feed my Hilti faster than the Quick Drive at this point when my fingers are warmed up for the day.

I use the Hilti 18V cordless with the collated attachment. Loads of power, gets into corners and great backup.

Re: Anyone Using Auto Feed Guns For Hanging
I use Dewalt 12volt. Way lighter than the 18volt. As for the senco I use them only for vaulted ceilings, price of strips compared to a bulk box is crazy. Cheers

![]() The weight isn't bad once you get used to it and as was said above, pass the cost of the screws along.
