Angle Troubles
My angles aren't looking so great as of late. The edge of the tape is showing just barely. I use a Tape Tech 3 inch easy roll on the first coat and a three and a half inch North Star on the second coat. Even before sanding, I can just barely see and feel the outside edge. Seems like it has just started. Any ideas?

Re: Angle Troubles
I have that happen from time to time at the top and bottom of my angles so I just assumed that maybe I'm twisting the roller or something at the ends of my angles as I'm flying along.
But you may have worn down your angle head blades and they are in need of adjustment or a rebuild. I forget how this guy told me to adjust to leave more mudd so I just had mine redone from Johnny @ http://www.drywallmastertools.com/contact.php. They work great again and their turnaround time is awesome.

Re: Angle Troubles
Thanks, Brockster. I'll have to give him a shout. Kinda wondered about the worn out blade. I have tried adjusting the blades before and seem to made them worse. I have put a rebuild on them before. It isn't too bad to do, but the guys I have sent them to are sure better at it than me. They run so much smoother and easier and neater when returned. All Wall is good, but where I am it takes two weeks turn around. UPS takes about a week there and back.
Thanks for the help... |

Re: Angle Troubles
retuning them usually works, and you can also try the tapeworm 4 inch corner tool, I have used it and it works good, and covers the corner good..

Re: Angle Troubles
Tim, you may be leaving too much mud on the first coat, causing the 3 1/2 to leave an edge on the second pass. Try running them in reverse, the 3 1/2 on the first coat and the 3 on the second coat to see if that fixes the hard edge prob. If it does, than all you need to do is thin your mud a little more on the first pass to leave a flatter bed. If it doesn't you may have the edges of your blades a little too high; jutting out over the skids.
I use a 3 1/2 on the first pass and a 2 on the second pass. If you use the smaller head on the second pass, you use less mud=less effort, and you eliminate the trash pick-up problem. Anyway, good luck |
