Working Around Hydro

When working where overhead hydro lines attach to the building; do you guys bother calling hydro in to cover the neutral wire? or just work around it? I have to set up scaffolding about 12" away from this point.

Don't be STUPID. If it's close enough to think about it call the power co. and have them boot it. I just rebuilt a chimney about 10' from 14.5KV line. I called and had them boot it. One little mistake and your flaming body will be dead before you hit the ground.

Absolutely. By us they (NIPSCO) come out for FREE and boot it. Why take any chances????

Re: Working Around Hydro

They charge $720 to boot it here. I ended up having them cut off power at the pole while we set up scaffolding and tarped it all in. Now that everything is secure the power is back on.
