This Is Why You Wear Safety Glasses

Wearing safety glasses saved Mike's eyes when the grout hose exploded.

Re: This Is Why You Wear Safety Glasses

You should start all of your safety meetings with Mike's picture to stress the importance of wearing your PPE every time - every day. This photo says it all to the people who say they "don't need all of that safety stuff". Great post.

I'm not sure how we got from safety glasses to automobile wrecks.

Can we at least pretend to stay on subject?

Thx for showing the importance of safety glasses! I've been lucky through the years! In the early 80's I operated grout pump on hundreds of jobs. I 've got stories to tell!

Those other pics are pretty, ummm... not sure I have the words for it.

Just after you think nothing on the intraweb can shock you anymore.

Re: This Is Why You Wear Safety Glasses

If the driver of that car had his hardhat on, he would've been OK. At least according to OSHA. When they required a HH on a roof, I figure it was to save us if a plane crashed into the building. Glad they rescinded that silly rule and amended it to roofers below the eave.

As for the pics, I helped a camera crew at a train accident. The regular photog, newbie, lost it and I ended up doing all the work, including written notes.

My Brother-In-law is a Fireman and had a similar situation w/ jogger that got hit by a car , then flew into a telephone pole guide wire which cut him in half. Brother-in-law had to go over to the bottom half of the guy and check for a wallet w/ some ID in it. He volunteered to do it because no one else on the scene could do it.

I guess it is like being a Gynecologist. After a while, it is no longer what it is. It just becomes routine.
