That's moving pretty damn good.....congrats...... and I like to call the tender the true Morter Forker on the job.

Re: What's The Most Block You've Done In A Day?

By slump block I assume you mean trash or fill block? if so I have laid 400 block in a set of steps in about an hour and a half!

The most I have laid is 720 , but they were for a foundation for an apartment complex took me 9 hours.

I at one time averaged 400 a day, ( as most around here do or did at one time) but this was back before all the houses went to 20+ corners....

funny all the block talk, because I started a small foundation today....Laid a whopping 200 block...but I was bilding leads the leads though

funny things is ...I hate block and will turn down most foundations unless I just have to do them to get the brick job

6x6x16 laid in a straight wall.Slumpblock are taken out of the mold early giving them a squashed look. They're more forgiving then a precision block.

Re: What's The Most Block You've Done In A Day?

I had to do a bunch one day and made it look like so much fun that my buddies finished the whole wall.

OK, I ripped off Mark Twain.

As a kid, I used to run block. Two on each arm up to the third floor (steps) to supply a mason. It took two of us plus a mortar mixer to keep this guy going.

In the process, I did learn mixes and how to properly set block. That was Dad's intention.

How many in a day? You don't want ME doing it! My back would be over and out in about 2 hrs.

Re: What's The Most Block You've Done In A Day?

the most i have laid in one day is 660ish.
these were 8 in split face block in a retaining wall.i had one man spreading and one man stocking ahead of me and one man mixing mud.i built to leads one on each end, stretched my line tight and set a twig.
i laid 525 8 in concrete under a house one day too.the owner wanted it done and fast.when i gave him his bill for 1500.00 he said thats a hella lot of money for one days work.so i told him if it would have made him feel better i could have strechted it out over 2-3 days.what pissed me off is he paid me half and then the other half 2 weeks later.

660? I could maybe vouch for that. We made a lot of trips up those stairs. I'd have to think about it. I'm brain dead now. DOR says that I owe them about $10K and I'm mostly a sub.

To be perfectly honest with you guys I dont keep track of how much I lay in a day. I dont do much block work though either. Im of the opinion quality over quantity.

it's not just about how much you can lay in a day. i don't want a mason on my jobs bragging about how many he can lay in a day because most times it'll look like dogsh!t. It's all about quality, level, straight, square, or they don't get hired again.
