What To Lay Cultured Stone With

Hey guys!
Cool forum....Just wanted to ask what each of you guys use to lay cultured stone. I've done it a few diffrent ways, but I've discovered the best way is mortar with the acrylic milk additive for adhesiveness. Does anybody use thin set? Top-down, or bottom-up?

I use metal lathe tacked to studs with 2" staples or roofing nails and a base coat of just regular mortar about 3/8" thick. When youscratch coat it doesn't matter if you go bottom to top or vice versa. But when you lay always go top down. Keeps everything a hell of alot cleaner.
