Using Up Odds And Ends
I am a collector of stuff that would otherwise be thrown away. I hate to see good stuff tossed in the dumpster on the jobsite. I take it home and let it pile up for a while until the Commander-in-Chief (house) demands that I use it or haul it off. My pile was getting pretty big and I was tired of moving it to mow and rake, so I built this little patio out in the backyard.
The arch is from a church that was undergoing expansion, the fossil stone slabs were given to me as excess from an outdoor kitchen, the used chicago bricks are the "plugs" left over from cutting off the faces for an interior thin veneer project, and the rock tiles were given to me to get them out of someone else's garage. I had to buy the CMU and the concrete for the footing, so my total cost was a 100 bucks or so. I call it my BBQ alter, and am in the process of moving monkey grass to surround it.
