Tile Grout For Masonry Joints
Hey guys I was wondering if you could use tile grout to repoint a bluestone walkway for example. The reason why i would whant to do this is because it is easier to clean and you dont get efervesence (white stuff) on the stones themselves ?

Re: Tile Grout For Masonry Joints
I would say no, because the gradation of the aggregates is designed for joints of 1/4" or less.

Re: Tile Grout For Masonry Joints
I just did a random slate floor in a kitchen. Never really did anything exactly like it.
I didn't know what to use for the joints, and after reading the directions on a bunch of different grout bags I learned that they didn't recomend any joints larger than 3/4" I just used Type N masonry cement, fine, well graded sand and mixed bonding agent 50/50 with the water. It worked GREAT. Just don't make it too wet. It's easy to do with bonding agent. You want it just wet enough to pack into the joints and slick off nice. |
