Tarring Foundation For Raised Patio...
I looked at a raised patio job this week. The patio will be 24inches above grade. I assume it would be best to tar the foundation, correct?
And is it neccessary to tar the foundation if there is no basement? Matt |

No, if you have no basement/crawl space you don't have to waterproof the foundation, doing it is better, just to minimize water infiltration and damage, but not needed.
Good Luck! |

Don't worry.
The black stuff is really not a waterproofer and is a damp proofer. Most also have a short ilfe. I can make a customer feel good.

Rusk,
Will there still be at least 6" of foundation above the patio height?

Re: Tarring Foundation For Raised Patio...
There will not be any foundation above the patio. The heights do not work out .
Part of the siding will be cut removed, flashing installed, new j channel installed. I just do not know if this will be along the entire length of the patio or just for the stairs. Again i am not sure on the final height yet. |
