Re: Stucco Question

nah notin like that . see around here there is no stucco and no masons doing it. I shoulda thought of that though [the angle iron] ....but what is stucco ...what is it made of ? I would like to bring a more variety around here so future customers can have the opportunity to have a more unique home I've seen it put on on tv but I don't realy know what it consist of. Im thinking it will have to be painted to get that brown or whatever color they might desire. But like I said I know nothing at all about it. I"ve already seen the best way to increase my knowledge is from here. Some of the stuff I've learned from here has set me ahead several years from where I was. I feel more like a professional now. Don't get me wrong I can lay em...but the more knowledge a man has the better mason hes gonna be. thanx for all input. but like I said would love to have info about what to use and how to put it up the right way. thanx again

Re: Stucco Question

stucco is a cement finish.most generally about 3/4 inch thickness applied in three coats.a scratch coat, brown coat, and finish coat.the finish coat can be any texture and cement coloring can be added to the finish coat so you would not have the need to paint it.

Dont forget the diamond lathe before u do scratch coat,, ( thats your best bet to prevent any seperation of your stucco from the wall your aplying it to for years to come if all coats done right)

Re: Stucco Question

latbrick - "Type in Dryvit" and expect non-code compliance and law suits on a wood frame structure.

It can be O.K. on a masonry wall if you know what you are doing and the nail bender installs the windows right.

Lawsuits is right! Thats why when approached about Carrara Stucco I went for it. The foam stuff has its place just not over wood. Nate
