Stucco Patch Help

I am about to replace some old windows with vinyl windows in a stucco building. the homeowner wants me to rip out all of the existing wood, trim and sill, as it is rotting. what I need to do is patch the little bit of stucco that won't be covered up by the retro fin of the new window. I'm figuring that the space that the old wood sill will leave is about 1-2" long by about an inch deep. what should I use to patch the hole and then what should I use to try and match the existing stucco texture? any help and direction would be appreciated.

Re: Stucco Patch Help

I do a lot of exterior door replacements here in Florida and have found that it is better to chip back a little further than you opening. I use metal lathe in some cases to make a band depending on house design. I put some fiber mesh in the mix and apply. To get the texture I purchased a stucco thrower I call it or a applicator (it looks like a hand held fertalizer spreader) to apply the texture and trowel out or sponge it sor a sand look. I got the thrower at Warehouse Bay Corp on line for $45 bucks I bought both types and like the metal one best. I hope this helped.

Re: Stucco Patch Help

depends on what the existing stucco texture is on how to match the texture. Some textures are extremely hard to blend. If you can convince them to do a stucco "band" around the windows it would be easier.
