Stucco

I'm curious to the stucco applications in different areas of the country. For instance,in Utah they use synthetic on almost everything. While in Ca. almost all is the traditional 3 coat process.what are they doing in your area?

Re: Stucco

We see alot of both, but I like a traditional browncoat with a Dryvit finish. The best of both worlds in my opinion.

Re: Stucco

As some of you may have heard, there's been a big influx from Latin America in New Orleans since "the thing." I've noticed a number of houses where the amigos have removed the wood siding and replaced it with stucco.

I've passed a number of houses in progress, and looks like they do OSB, then some yellow board (insulation board?) followed by one or two coats of stucco.

I saw one project up close where it was all one coat, and they just used the bagged mortar mix, with metal strips in between sections. (I think this one was metal lath underneath.) It seemed pretty solid, but I'd like to hear some opinions on how long that might last.

We as well use the new methods with foam build for iso and the mesh overlay glued and a spray on one coat using plastasized morter for our stucco mix. This as well can be sprayed over masonery like brick block concrete to give a nice finish orange peal or knock down. But i still like the 4 coat method base scratch brown and coler coats.
