Question

Seal/Waterproof Brick

Anyone recommend any brand of sealer for waterproofing chimney bricks? Looking for a product that seals water out but allows the brick to breathe?

Re: Seal/Waterproof Brick

For hard fired modern brick you will need a high VOC like Prime-A-pell 200. For interior or softer brick, ProSoCo makes some good water based ones.

I've had very good luck with ComProShield. You don't even know it's on there until it rains and the water beads up like it's running off a freshly waxed car.

Re: Seal/Waterproof Brick

I've used Weather-Guard with good results on natural stone, brick, cultured, and concrete. It's not cheap, around $95.00 per five gallons, but it doesn't leave any residue on the surface and seems to penetrate well. It's siloxane based and allows the masonry to "breathe" as well.

Try L & M chemicals. They have both water and solvent based repellents for block ,brick and concrete.
