Ribbon Joints (Re-pointing Foundation)

Can anyone tell me the proper procedure for a ribbon joint?
I have approx. 10 linear ft. to redo on an old foundation. Is there a ribbon jointer I can purchase.
Your favorite morter mix ratio would also be appreciated.

I cannot find anyone to sub it out to in my area.

Thanks

Re: Ribbon Joints (Re-pointing Foundation)

If you mean grapevine joint, the tool I have used is just a reversed stamped metal block jointer. Most masonry yards would carry them. You might get lucky and even try Home Cheapo.
I'm no expert and have only done it a few times to match some existing joints like you are trying to do.
I found it is EXTREAMLY important to get the mortar just right. I had good luck with extra lime and whip it up good until it's nice and creamy.
I also discovered it's a total pain in the butt to do when you don't do it very often.

Just looked on the Bon Tool site. My description was incorrect. I think here's what you need.
