Retaining Wall With A Slope

Hopefully I can explain this well. We have a concrete patio project where the patio will be built on the back side of the house. The grade on the backside slopes away from the house. Therefore, we are constructing an 18" retaining wall with block and will have a stone facade.

The wall starts near the house then curves away and then runs parallel to the house with a slight curve. The patio needs a slope for proper drainage so the wall must slope as well. My question: is there some technique for laying concrete block (which is not a straight run) on a slight slope? Or should I lay it level and then cut the top for the appropriate slope.

I do not have one of those fancy laser levels where you can punch in the desired slope. Mine is just the standard level.

Anyway I hope this makes sense. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Mike

Nail some plywood forms to the sides of the block, sloping the forms to the desired level and pour the tops to the desired height
