Replace 140yr Old Chimney

Does anyone know the going rate for replacing a chimney on a 140yr old 2 story house with an attic? Is $3,000 reasonable?

Damn boy that seem way to cheap.

Just curious, what does "Going rate" mean? Never heard that used for one off custom work.

Re: Replace 140yr Old Chimney

Current codes usually dictate that the new chimney will take up a larger footprint.....but 3g sounds like the material cost.....but "going rate" is a relative term......

Re: Replace 140yr Old Chimney

It would be helpful if you posted a few more details, but generally around here the most accurate response is "tree fiddy"

$3,000 for an r&r is missing a one in front of it.

The old one is stronger and better built now than the new one will be when completed, save it if you can.
