Quickpoint Question?
hi
i ask you if this mortar gun is a good tool. i don't know if we can work quickly with this gun. in france we have a lot of house of 1930 with no regular bricks and joints. a normal tuckpointer can do 12 meter*meter a speed can do 20 meter*meter. with normal method can you think this gun is faster. we can work with belgium method but i'm afraid about warrently. i prefer the normal method. thank you for your answer. sorry for my bad language |

Re: Quickpoint Question?
I have never used the guns, always the grout bag or just plain old tuckpointer and trowel.

Re: Quickpoint Question?
hi
ok for the bags we have it in france but i never see a worker do the a lot of joints on a house with bags. my problem with the bags is that i must do the mortar with more water to pass in the bag. i'm afraid to let mortar over the bricks because i'm not a boss with this system. how many meters you can do with bags on one day about 7 hours? on a house with bricks. thanks |

Re: Quickpoint Question?
I use less water with the bag than with a caulking trowel. I have always wanted to try the gun, but it is too expensive for the size jobs I do.

[quote=Subia29;242591]Grout bags has been around since the hair pin. thanks for that post Md. 80% of time when a customer see's me use one of these,I already know what's coming out they're mouth: ''Wow, you would make a great cake decorator,''
Exactly lol to many times Subia,, good demo on how we use it Mdshunk,, the brick wall i would hand pointed tho,(( gonna suck alot of water out of that mortar as soon as it hits the OLD mortar,,SOAK,, hand tooling gives the chance to finish properly as u go compared to the gun )) the gun u can do alot of footage with one of those on brick(( im usta tooling my own joints sorta like frosten on a cake lol)) i use the bag on blue-stone patios mainly ((( ouch me` acken back ))) |

Re: Quickpoint Question?
If you do not use a bag, then I assume you use a Hawk and Caulking trowels? I can grout brick faster and longer with that method, but for stone or small jobs a bag is quicker. The problem with using a bag for large tuckpointing jobs is that it is physically demanding. I would be hard pressed to bag joints for 8 hours a day.

Re: Quickpoint Question?
It is being used as a hawk, but it is still a trowel. I use a 12x5 finishing trowel for a hawk sometimes.
