Pouring Footings-Concrete Selection

I'm going to be pouring some footings based on spec from architect/engineer. Some will be for some load-bearing post/beam LVL walls, 2'x8'x15". The others will be for 3'x'3x'x18" for lally columns for new steel flush headers. Headers apprx 20' and being supported by pocket in foundation wall and column at other end. So here is my question, is premixed bagged concrete i.e SAKRETEor QUICRETE as strong as READYMIX stuff delivered from yard. Obviously with yrd concrete I can order to spec, but for these footings, any reason that I can't used the bagged stuff.

Thanks or the input

Re: Pouring Footings-Concrete Selection

The bags can work, especially if they fit your logistics. You can aways buy a higher strength (not high early strength) if you choose. All you really need is 3000 psi.

For what you describe, you really have very little load/stress on the size footings specified. You may not need much(or any) steel in the footing since for the sizes you quoted there will probably not be any tension and only shear, which concrete is very strong.

Re: Pouring Footings-Concrete Selection

that ' stuff ' in bags is the same's any batch plant would mix &, sometimes, even better 'cause of quality control,,, most problems arise when the water/cement ratio's too high & done wrong by the 1 mixing.
