Pointing Followup
I previously posted some photos of my pointing repair, thanks for all the responses.
Followup question, is the only 'right' way to do re-pointing in the first place to grind or chisel away the existing mortar to a depth equal to at least the width, then fill the gap and tool? Is there any instance where you would not grind or clear the old mortar first? Thanks again in advance, Jeff |

Re: Pointing Followup
There are instances where I would chop my own arm off. If you are asking which is the proper way to repoint, I think you already know the answer.

Re: Pointing Followup
I know this doesn't help but in an effort to improve my tuck pointing and mortar matching I ordered this book today. It might shed some valuable advice on your tuck pointing situation.
Check out the rest of this guys site as well. http://www.brickworkpreservation.com/OnlineCatalog.html
