Pointig Some Old Buildings

Bidding on some pointing in home town, just a one horse town, but everyone knows everyone and the commute is 5 minutes as long as there is no ice.

So my question is these buildings are 75 years old and older. Do I just point with type n or should I try to replicate the old lime mortar. Joints are not very thick, this is not historic or anything, just a guy trying to save "Downtown."

another side

I posted about interior walls for this guy, and it looks like a lot of work and I think he is good for the money, just a little close with the coin, but at least it is visible work that others might notice.

Probably going to rent an articulating basket to save a lot of scaffold work.
Here is one more with a wider view.

There just was a thread
about this.
Bottom line wrong mortar
will leave it in worse shape
than none at all.

Re: Pointig Some Old Buildings

Thanks Neo,
there is one article in there that seemed to have some pretty good points about the use of lime mortars. Probably the best thing would be to get some test spots completed sooner rather than later. If we start repair in 35 days, a test panel isn't going to reveal a lot of compatibility issues.

Once again I am educated by the fine experts on this site.
