Old Faithfull Broke Down

my old concrete mixer finally gave out. engine shot, and bearings gone. im looking to buy a new one but dont want go overboard. we mix alot with wheel barrel, shovel and hoe.

i was thinking of buying one of those portable wheel barrel type mixers. the problem is most of them are only 1/3 to 1/2 horse. i'm looking for at least 1 hp.

any suggestions guys?

look at your rental stores, they have units that have been taken out of rent.most times you can get a good buy on them.check out ebay, good buys can be found there also.

if you are going to spend the money buy a good unit.i wouldnt buy a cheap wheel barrel mixer,if they were free.

there is a link to a mixer on ebay.

I picked up an Imer concrete mixer maybe a year and a half ago, at the time, they threw in an electric unit for free. Although I rarely use the little one, they are handy on small jobs inside, stuff like that. 5 stars for Imer however, well thought out machine. Look around, they may have that promotional deal again w/this economy..good luck

Re: Old Faithfull Broke Down

We've had good luck with Stow brand mixers. They're the usual drum mixers with paddles. Paddle mixers are the most efficient at mixing most cement products, although regular concrete can age the mixer pretty quick!

Imer mixers are great for mixing concrete, although you can't get as many bags in a single batch compared to a Stow drum style mixer.

Stow mixers are around $2K for a new one with an 8HP Honda engine.
