I am meeting with a customer tomorrow. In addition to the things we have allready talked about today she asked about her fireplace.Long question short. Is it ok to cover the old bricks with a new material or should it be removed? This is for the interior only.Thanks....

Just have a minute here but there is no reason why you can't go over it with tile.Lay it right over the brick.

Or stucco, faux stone, sheetrock, anything. Just make sure to maintain combustible material distances on the surround and hearth area.

There's no reason why you can't go right over it. You could put stone, tile, or, stucco.

Re: Old Brick Fireplace Facelift....

I told her we could make it look awsome by covering it.She says it is too big for the room and wants it more "streamlined".
Looks like she wants the SoCal track home mantle and nothing else look. The harth that is there will stay and be covered...
