Octagon Gable Vent - Batt Ribbon - Pictures Anyone?

Does anyone have any pictures of a batt ribbon on a octagon gable vent?
I'm getting ready to do my first one. Just curious what others have done.

Nate

Thanks Stacker!

And I thought it was the other way around...
Have we played Alva in football yet? Oh yeah we did. I think it was 28 - 6 Blackwell.
Actually I'm not a huge football fan. So it makes no difference to me. I guess I shouldn't tell you that... :-)

Thanks man thats exactly what I was talking about.
Is it called something else? Maybe just a ribbon?

The vent on new construction has a nail flange so it would have to be cut out and you could cut the flange off a new vent and set it in place and caulk around it.

CJKarl - I've had a few walkin bonds myself...
Sometimes its the help the has them walkin for me... It happens.

if you are i think it is very rude to make comments like that about someones work.i understand we all cant be as good as you,but please keep you smart azz comments to yourself.
and if you must know some of those brick varied as much as 1/4 in length.

we call it a 3/4 bond here.

I know what you mean stacker.
I have been amazed at the difference in length on these brick. It is amazing. And hard.... my gawd there hard!
From the other mason's I have talked too, it doesn't seem to matter what brick you buy they aren't the same length. Some worse than others.

Again, thanks for the pictures guys. They are exactly what I was looking for.

Re: Octagon Gable Vent - Batt Ribbon - Pictures Anyone?

even if it were possible for the manufacturers to make every brick the same lenght, very few are good enough to lay each head joint exactly the same size,so your bond is going to wiggle a little unless you take forever to lay brick ,then you won't be in bussiness very long

Re: Octagon Gable Vent - Batt Ribbon - Pictures Anyone?

I call it a 3/4 bond as well, and it looks to be within reasonable range and within most specifications I have seen, especially for residential work. A mason might notice the bond, but a homeowner will notice fat head joints.
