Re: Masonry Water Repelents

i always recommend to my customers that want to seal brick or stone,to go out to wal mart, buy the wal mart brand water sealer.apply with a weed sprayer.people are so hip on the thompson brand and i have found that the cheaper wal mart brand works just as well.it will not give any gloss finish it will dry transparent.i had one customer who thought i was full of bull until he sprayed his brick, let it dry and turned the water hose on it.he seals his house every two years now.

I don't have expereince with the Wally-world one, but Prime-a-pell 200 is an excellent one that will generally last 10 or more years.

Use the bug sprayer, start at the top and work your way down and make sure it is absolutly dry before you start*. Wipe up any puddles as they will turn white and protect your landscaping as well.

*Duct tape a 6x6 square of plastic to the wall and leave it for 24 hours.
If there is condensation on the poly, wait to seal it.

Thanks for the advice. Would have preferred the 10yr, but local building supply, Big box stores, and local hardware didn't carry.
Mant thanks
