Mason Bond....The Evolution Of Mortar
Just saw this ad in my masonry construction mag and scanned it. I thought I would throw it out there for discussion.
Seems to me masons would hate it for obvious reasons and GCs would/might love it for obvious reasons. Anyone seen or used the product?

Re: Mason Bond....The Evolution Of Mortar
kinda pricey.a small tube sells for 10.50 and lays only 15 block,or large tube lays 40 for 27.40.according to their website, and you know you never get the coverage they claim.
would be no different than using shurewall i guess.

Re: Mason Bond....The Evolution Of Mortar
I do not know about the material in everyones area but this product has a tolerance of 1/16" for joints. When was the last time you picked up a block that was dead square, flat and had no imperfections in it? What about the modular system that is used in commercial work? The size of the blocks would have to be changed to fit 1/16" joints. No more hammer cutting either. How could you keep bond with brick that varied in length? There are too many other variables to use this system. The entire industry would have to change to use this product. I would think that this product will never take off.

Re: Mason Bond....The Evolution Of Mortar
I have done projects with CMU and liquid nails. It works just fine for certain applications. This product falls into the same category as surface bonding cement, in my opinion: It works, but it is not the best all around solution.

Laying block with silicone guns? Amazing. Mortar has been around for so long that improving it may be easier said than done. Doesn't hurt to try, though!
