a lil help on stucco texture coat

yes,,,I will practice on a sample.
Its just been awhile since I've stucco'ed,
done it many times on new doors and windows and small additions.
never been "impressed" with my speed and proficiency at the finish coat.
stucco contractor's not really interested,too small a job.

just lookin for some tips,pointers,suggestion s ?
its your basic skip trowel pattern.

don't apply the finish coat with a grain shovel.
