I wear two condoms full-time...Then when it's time to get down, you take one off. Then you have "MORE" sensation instead of less.

Re: Lets Talk Tricks

some of the ol tricks go way back ,on Block work,No line twig (trig) use a dollar bill Just make sure it's not a twenty. Anthor one was wrapping the line on the end of line strechers (chicken legs)about 20 times with no line dangling by your feet .Having the line tight both ends. Each course that went up ,Just unwrap it 3 times to keep the same tension.I think the ol timers stop doing that when the apprentices and the line jocks kept cutting the line. There was a thread awhile back about the glass in the chimmny when a mason felt funny about getting paid from a customers. Those are the ones I like to here .'' The legends of the immortals.''

Re: Lets Talk Tricks

When I clean the pencil marks off my corner poles I use mortar. Just put some elbow grease with it and spray it off. The pencil marks are gone.

Re: Lets Talk Tricks

Also, for inside corner work, I will buy 1/8" doorskin, rip it down on my table saw to 2" wide, and tack it up to the inside corners and transfer my marks to that. Then I use and 8 penny Duplex nail as my line holder and tuck the nail in behind the doorskin with the other end of the line on the corner pole. It works great!

Re: Lets Talk Tricks

The day i figured out I could put a 7" blade on my little angle grinder to replace the 4" blade was a good day indeed. I use it all the time for tuckpoingting cutting misc. brick block etc. but it's best use is toothing brick around door and windows that are being moved or enlarged. It's lightweight and the little motor is wimpy enough that if you bind it up it won't rip your arm off. Still dangerous though so I'm not recommending it, i'm just saying it is a tool that I use all the time.

Re: Lets Talk Tricks

Another trick when toothing brick is to use a little .5" cold chisel to remove those stubborn pieces of mortar without breaking any brick. Works like a charm except on the softest of brick which are hopeless anyway.

Re: Lets Talk Tricks

In the hot summer months I have my help put a little dawn dish soap in the mortar. It seems to keep it fresher longer. And when you are done with the job it makes it easier to clean the brick.
