I am just curious what the differences in costs are across the nation. I am in the South East and have about $5600 figured. It would be more expensive up north I believe and probably less towards the West. Any feedback will be appreciated.
Fire birck are about $1.50 and regular face brick between 0.30 and 0.40 cents. The flue are $50.00 each, 8" Block 1.20. I figured I'll use 1200 face brick and 90 firebrick.
If I were doing a Buckley-Rumford, I would have about that much just in materials. Most of your costs are close to what I pay, except for the brick. Much closer to the .80-.90 range here. Don't forget to include every little thing involved like damper, Heat Stop, wallties, etc... & mark-up on the materials, or you'll just be screwing yourself out of money.
I only use the pre-fab Rumford components, so they may thow off my #'s a little, although much time is re-couped in labor. Don't forget the amount of additional time involved in the H-bone firebox either. I can honestly say I've never done a Rumford with full chimney & veneer for less than 5 figures.
BTW, let us know where you are (fill in your info) in the South so we have a better comparison.
