Drylock On Poured Walls...
hey guys, i'm finishing a basement soon and plan on using drylock or equiv. water proofing paint on the poured walls prior to framing the perimeter walls in. I have heard I need like 3 coats if the walls have never been drylocked before, is this true?
I have about a 1000 sq ft of concete wall space to cover, at that rate, i would need like two 5 gallon buckets per coat. to me it sounds like 3 coats is a lot. the house is 7 years old, and has never had water in the basement, the walls don't leak, and aren't even damp. how many coats should i bet putting on it? I don't do many finished basements, but have done several in the past and now that work is slow, i don't mind doing them if the work is there. the last one i did was in a townhouse and it was a middle unit so we never sealed those walls at all. thanks guys! |

Contact a local masonry supplier for a similar product by another manufacturer. Keyword is "crystalline" waterproofing agent. |

Re: Drylock On Poured Walls...
Have always used UGL as insurance.
One heavy coat. Wash down walls, then long nap roller to get it on and brush it in with white-wash brushes. Smell and sore shoulders/arms.. must mean it's good!

Re: Drylock On Poured Walls...
no washing down the walls. the downside to this basment job is they already have full wall to wall carpeting in the basement which needs to be cut back where the plate goes. i hope it's glued, rather than tack stripped so it's easier to get off and not have to worry about fastening a new tack strip around every wall.
i'll check into this crystalline stuff. thanks! |
