Diamond Blade Question
Has anyone used a Wel-Co diamond blade? I was wondering how they held up.
Thanks'

Diamond blades work best when water cooled and at medium speeds. I'm not familiar with the Wel-Co name. The co. doesn't show up in my quick scan which leads me to believe that it is Chinees, pardon me.

I usually use MK blades. They seem to hold up relatively good compared to the more expensive 200-$300 blades. You can get MK blades anywhere from around $100 to $200 for 14".

i use a blade made by merit.i have used them for the last five years and have had very good luck with them.i pay around 75.00 plus shipping, and thats for a 14 incher.before that i used the high dollar blades(300-400 range).i can not tell the difference in cuts or how long the last.
like teet said all diamonds work better wet,but i hate using a wet blade.
if wel co is a cheap blade, dont be afraid to try it,it may last forever.but then again it could last a week, but you wont be out much.

I used a wet blade a couple of times. I wont anymore unless I absolutely have to.
And I agree about blade prices. Just because its expensive doesnt mean its good. I found my cheaper blades work just as well and have the same duration. Im goin to check into those blades by Merit. After all, 25 bucks is 25 bucks right?

Wel Co blades
I ask the question because one of the local rental places has a deal going where if you buy 12 blades you get a new Stihl ts400 saw. I need a new saw and it is a good deal (the blades would be about $130.00 or $63.00 after taking out the saw price). It would not be a good deal if the blades take a dump after a day or so. I was just checking to see if anyone knew. I usually use MK or Norton blades and have never had a problem. The Norton blades are pricey but last forever.
Thanks

if i had the money to buy 12 blades at 130.00 each and i also needed a new saw, even tho i am getting a saw with the blade purchase.i would have to think, what am i gonna go with a dozen saw blades.now the first thing that comes to mind is to sell what i dont need.you could sure get your 63.00 out of each blade, but it might take some time, and you have your money tied up.i would more than likely purchase the saw outright.according to your figures that would be around 750 bucks and the dozen blades would be about the same.if i could use that many blades within a certain time period, then id buy the blades and get the freebie.but i would really have think long and hard about tying up 750 bucks.
one thing i have learned is, it's not a bargin at any price,if you dont need it.

Ok this may deserve a new thread, but have any of you used a chainsaw type concrete/brick saw? I am thinking about buying one to replace my TS400 14' circular saw that was stolen. I like the idea of having the ability to plunge cut 9"-14" or more (depending on the saw) with no overcut.
I guess my main concern is how long does the 150.00 chain last?
Anybody have any experience with these compared to the traditional circular style concrete saw?

Thanks Stacker. I had thought about that. I have a few people who are going to get a few blades off of of me and I would like to keep two or three, so thats not an issue. Those blades seem to work good. I tried one out today with no noticable wear on an extended concrete w/rebar cut. I needed the saw and a couple new blades anyways.
