Cutting And Installing Glass Tiles As Backsplash


was wondering how difficult it is to install glass tiles for backsplash and do you cut with wetsaw like regular tile, never installed but thinking of doing in my own home? Thanks for any info.

It's difficult compared to no glass, no doubt. Different thinset required, different installation techniques and on and on. There are special glass cutting blades for cutting glass tile. Often it comes down to trying out what you have and see if it works, sometimes you can get away with your regular blade, sometimes not, you gotta see how the chipping looks.

I'll tell you one thing for advice, do yourself a huge favor and spend the money on a very good glass tile thinset like Adesilec, you'll be so happy you did. You want something like that to avoid the saggies. Expensive stuff but wellllllllllllllllllllllllll worth it.

"Saggies" may be one problem, but you better pay attention to your bed joints, all joints actually. If you have any air trapped behind the tile you are going to get a dark spot that's going to stick out like a sore thumb.
