Cost Of Blocking In A Room In A Shop?

Hi Guys,

Could you tell me what kind of cost I would be looking at to have a room blocked in. I want to make a 24'L X 14'W X 11'H room in the corner of my shop, so I need a wall 24 X 11 and the front wall that will have a 10' x 10' door. So what would I be looking to have this done?

Thanks
Tony

I recall a piece-rate mason telling me he got 45 cents a block recently. Best I got.

in alva oklahoma,no where near you,the cost would be $13.00 per block, material and labor.you would set all doors and rough bucks.if i set them it would cost you another $75.00 each.the 13.00 cost is for an 8 inch block with 3 bond beams, and poured verticals every 4 foot.
now this would not include cutting block to fit a sloped roof, assuming you are taking your room to the roof decking.

Do you want ti inckude the cost of cutting the floor and installing new footings since the slab probably carry the load (or the contractor does not want to be responsible for the unknown floor quality)?

Have a local contractor look at the existing situation while you explain what you want built.

I've seen them just sawcut the floor on both sides of where a block partition will be built a few times. I guess the idea is that the sawcuts basicly leave a footer on grade with the chunk of floor sawn free of the main floor. Is this considered an acceptable method?

Thanks for the answers, it seems that I will not be putting up a block wall. It will be cheaper to frame it in with metal studs and metal siding.

saw cutting the slab, under the area of the new point load ,is going to help?

That's insane! Now there's a water release area, and reduced strength
