Concrete Floor In A Pole Barn

I am planning on putting a concrete floor in my own pole barn this year.I built the barn 5 years ago. It is typical construction 24'x40' with the structural poles sunk to the frost line (48" here) sitting on 12"x12" concrete. The soil is sand/rock. I have a few questions.
I was thinking I would pour a floating type slab with a 8"x8" integral footing around the pereimeter. Should I put some expansion material between the barn wood and concrete. And is this a good way to do it? All help, comments, and snide remarks appreciated.

That will work. The general practice is to make a diamand shape around each column, with the diamond pointing into the slab with expansion material. I would also wrap the column itself. Around the perimeter you should also have an isolation joint with some type of filler, too.
