CMU Wall Price

I know you may hate pricing questions, but I could use some help.

I recieved a quote of $1.45 for 10" CMU Block wall. They will also charge $2.25 per block to install.

There are 1900 blocks needed.

24' x 24' garage connected to a 24' x 32' addition

Is this a fair price. Construction is in PA.

Thank You

Re: CMU Wall Price

Sounds cheap- subs were charging me $2.25 a block back in the early 90's here in central NJ. The big question is, who's supplying the mortar, sand, lime, durawall, rebar, grout, etc? I'm assuming it's you- have you added in the cost of all that yet? Are the masons going to parge the exterior of the wall for dampproofing? Are they applying the dampproofing, and if so, who's applying it? These are all the "little" things that you have to consider when you put out prices online.

Re: CMU Wall Price

Yes,

Then will charge me $1.45 per block (10inch), plus the cost of motar and sand, etc.

Then they will charge me $2.25 to lay each block. They will just lay it, thats it. I'll have to come back and rebar and fill voids every 40 inches, waterproof, etc.

Just wanted to make sure this sounds fair.

Thanks again

Re: CMU Wall Price

in nw oklahoma where i live,i charge anywhere from 2.00 to 2.50 per block.50 cent per cell to grout.if i provide block i get 1.69 for 8 inch block.i am currently on a bathroom/consession stand where the owner is providing all material.i am getting a total of $5.69 per block labor.
(8in)that price includes, laying the block, pinning rebar every four feet, two bond beams at 4' and 8',pouring zonolite, grouting and stucco on the outside with surewall.also i recived 50 per metal door frame i set,and 50 for building rough bucks.
i think you are getting your moneys worth.i do think if i was you i would ask them to go ahead and grout for you.it shouldnt cost you that much more.

Where in PA are you located ?? That seems like a decent price. I know 2 masons, 5 years ago the one was getting $1.55 per block and another one was getting $2.00.
