Cinderblock Foundation Reaplacing Posts

i have a client that has an addition on the side of his house thats about 6 feet off the ground but its just held up with some 4x6's and he would like to get rid of those and replace it with a cinderblock foundation... now im not gonna do the work im going to sub it out but i just want to know the right way to go about doing this so A. i dont sound like an idiot and B. i know the job is getting done right... also uderneath it is all pavement and the room is about 16x16' with one wall connected to the house and its poured concrete foundation.... so a step by step on how the proper way to do it would be great so i can talk to some masons and talk to the home own sounds like i know what im talking about

thanks!

First, use concrete block instead
of cinder block or haydite.

I can help with supporting the structure. saw housemovers do this. get a steel I beam, maybe w8 by 26 lb.per foot long enough to extend 6-8 feet beyond both sides assuming floor joists are perpendicular to poured wall. build cribbing with 4' 6x6s close to where I beam will touch underside of floor joists in a box design, Lincoln log style. Slip a 6x6 in between an open slot low enough to get a bottle jack under the I beam. Jack the beam up to point of resistance and shim snugly from top of cribbing. Make sure you leave room to excavate footing. If you hold the beam back about 30" from the front wall, the mason can bring his corners and front wall up to a point were you can support load and lose the beam.
